Mcintosh teak dining table and six'tuck under' cream/beige fabric upholstered chairs. Condition is "Used" but excellent for the age. The suite is Danish style with'tuck under' chairs - four of the six can be pushed completely under the table top (when not extended), with their backs resting against the supporting rim of the table - so neat and attractive. They are date stamped - October 1972 or April 1973 - note these were bought as one set, I had a second set of chairs also. They are solid - just one has a slightly loose joint somewhere.
The covering fabric is not stained but I expect it would brighten up if cleaned. The table is amazing, there is hardly any difference at all between the colours of the main leaves and the central extension leaf, which is hidden from view when not in use - there is very minimal fading, no heat marks, no water marks, no cup rings, no sanded/restored areas.
I suspect this table has been kept covered for most of its life. It has a tiny blemish on the rim - see pic 11. Now to explain pic 12... I don't think Mcintosh intended the table top to be removable from the base, however having bought three of these I discovered that by unscrewing two wooden'stops' the main leaves could be removed. This makes transportation so much easier - I have had the table in an estate car (saves on van hire). Not saying it would go in any estate car mind you! On this table the stops were glued as well, so you can see in pic 12 how they will glue neatly back in place.
